Plain summary. EyesUp is a discipline contest with real money. You pay an entry fee to join a challenge. If you stay under your daily screen-time limit every day, you split the pot with the other survivors. If you fail, your entry fee goes to the survivors and we take 20% of the forfeit pot. If everyone wins, we take nothing. If no one wins, the entire pot is ours.

1. What EyesUp is

EyesUp ("EyesUp", "we", "us") operates a screen-time challenge app where users ("you") join time-bounded contests by paying an entry fee. Each challenge has a daily screen-time limit, a duration, and a fixed set of competitors. Users who stay under their daily limit every day of the challenge are survivors and split the forfeited stakes of the users who failed.

2. The money model

Entry fees

When you join a challenge, your entry fee is deducted from your wallet balance and held in the challenge pot until resolution.

Winnings

Winners cannot lose money

A user who survives a challenge will, at worst, recover exactly the entry fee they paid. This worst case only occurs when every participant survives. In every other case the survivor walks away with strictly more than they staked.

Losers forfeit their entry fee

A user who fails any day of a challenge forfeits the entirety of their entry fee. There are no partial refunds.

3. Rules of play

By joining a challenge you agree to the following:

  1. One challenge at a time. You may not participate in more than one challenge concurrently.
  2. No early exit. You cannot leave a challenge before its end date. Quitting, uninstalling, or otherwise becoming non-participatory will be treated as a failure and your entry fee forfeited.
  3. Daily screen-time verification. You grant EyesUp read-only access to your device's native screen-time reporting (Apple Family Controls on iOS, Usage Access on Android). A verified daily report must be successfully submitted for each day of the challenge. Missing, unverified, or tampered reports count as a failed day.
  4. No collusion or evasion. Using a secondary device, sharing an account, falsifying screen-time data, revoking screen-time access mid-challenge, or otherwise circumventing the verification process will result in immediate elimination, forfeiture of the entry fee, and may result in a permanent ban of the account at EyesUp's sole discretion.

4. Wallet, deposits, withdrawals

Wallet balances are denominated in euros and held by our payment processor, Stripe. Deposits are processed through Stripe Payments; withdrawals are paid out to a verified bank account via Stripe Connect. EyesUp may reject or delay withdrawals if it has reasonable grounds to suspect fraud, regulatory non-compliance, or violation of these terms.

5. Refunds

Refunds are issued at EyesUp's sole discretion. The two cases where a refund is automatic:

6. Account bans

EyesUp reserves the right to suspend or permanently ban an account that violates these terms, that EyesUp has reasonable grounds to believe is being used for fraud, or that is subject to a regulatory or legal order. A banned account is barred from signing in; its wallet balance and any in-progress challenges are handled on a case-by-case basis by EyesUp.

7. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old (or the legal age of majority in your jurisdiction, whichever is higher) and resident in a jurisdiction where real-money skill-and-discipline contests of this nature are legal. EyesUp is not responsible for verifying jurisdictional eligibility on your behalf.

8. Limitation of liability

EyesUp is provided "as is". To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, EyesUp's aggregate liability to any user arising from or relating to these terms or the service is limited to the total amount that user paid to EyesUp in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the liability.

9. Changes to these terms

EyesUp may update these terms at any time. Material changes will be notified inside the app at least seven days before they take effect. Continued use of the service after a change constitutes acceptance.
